The tasks for this role include:

• Answering incoming calls: Providing assistance and information to callers.
• Dealing with email enquiries: Responding promptly and professionally to email queries.

As a Customs & Import Clerk, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth import and delivery of goods. Your combined tasks and responsibilities include:

• Core Duties:
  • Work for a freight forwarder/agent or directly for an importer within the country of delivery.
  • Handle the movement of goods from other countries, ensuring timely transit and delivery. This involves regular communication with overseas offices, partners, and agents.
  • Arrange and complete all associated paperwork to document the nature of goods being imported, ensuring they comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Customs and Compliance:
  • Make customs declarations and manage regularizations related to shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with import quotas, tariffs, trade agreements, and Revenue and Customs regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Customs authorities to facilitate efficient transfer of goods through legal processes.
• Operational Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls and handle email inquiries.
  • Perform data entry and manage general office tasks.
  • Process claims and regularizations as needed.
  • Check incoming goods against paperwork to verify all items are accounted for.
• Financial Accountability:
  • Responsible for job costing and maximizing profitability for the organization.
• Problem-Solving and Negotiation:
  • Manage deadlines and navigate challenging situations, requiring negotiation skills to meet timescales effectively.
