Deme has emerged as Belgium's most attractive employer in a study by Randstad Research involving 14,000 participants. Of those familiar with the company, 56% would “like” or “very much like” to work there. Deme beats last year's winner, Janssen Pharmaceutica, and its eternal rival Jan De Nul. It is the third time that this dredging company from Antwerp has won the Randstad Award. In terms of public-sector employers, the Flemish government has been confirmed the most attractive, ahead of O.N.E. (Office of Birth and Childhood) and the Federal Public Services (FPSs).

This year, Deme follows in the footsteps of Janssen Pharmaceutica as the most attractive private-sector employer in Belgium. These results follow a survey (January 2019) involving 14,000 participants. Of those familiar with the company, a grand total of 56% would “like” or “very much like” to work there. Deme beats last year's winner, Janssen Pharmaceutica, and its eternal rival Jan De Nul and now holds the Randstad Award for the third time. This year, for the first time, Colruyt Group also ranks among the top ten most attractive companies, in seventh place. Bank Degroof Petercam, which follows in eighth place, is the first bank to appear in the top ten since the financial crisis. However, the banking sector as a whole is not managing to make real progress in terms of attractiveness.

Not only does Deme now hold this year's overall title of most attractive employer, it is also advocated by participants as the best company in terms of job security, development prospects, job content, ambiance, new technology, and pay and benefits.

In the public sector, which was studied as a separate category this year, the Flemish government beat O.N.E. (Office of Birth and Childhood) and the Federal Public Services (FPSs). 55% of all respondents familiar with the Flemish government would “like” or “very much like” to work there. Great advantages of the Flemish government are the job security, development prospects, job content, and pay and benefits. The organisation is considered the most attractive by both those with a secondary education and a higher education.
